Asher’s Ridge is a tabletop roleplaying game for one to four players, with no preparation or GM required. A perfect game for fans of Twin Peaks, The X-Files, or Stranger Things.

Lights, camera, action

Direct – and star in – your own paranormal drama television show set in the remote fictional town of Asher's Ridge. Experience the unexplainable in the breathtaking heart of the Lake District. Gather your cast of characters, scout your filming locations, and make a show that will keep viewers guessing for years to come.

Gameplay

During an episode – AKA  a game – you foreshadow a paranormal threat to Asher's Ridge in short, atmospheric interludes and collaborate on scenes using a web of plot threads created from letter tiles. The threat escalates and becomes personal to your characters and tension builds as they take risks to address it. Eventually problems come to a head, for better or worse, and the episode ends in a dramatic cliffhanger.

Inspired by Twin Peaks, The X-FilesStranger Things and more, Asher's Ridge captures the twists and turns of your favourite paranormal television shows.

The elevator pitch

  • Novel system using letter tiles (e.g. from Scrabble) and playing cards; no dice required.
    • Alternative roll tables are provided if letter tiles and playing cards are unavailable.
  • GM-lesszero-prep, narrative-led tabletop roleplaying game for 1-4 players, ideal for both one-shots and limited series campaigns.
  • Choose a logline (the elevator pitch of the episode) then draft potential scene locations making a card pool you draw from during play.
  • Draw letter tiles and form interlinking plot threads, then play them out at an available scene location. If threads elude you, become sidetracked while the paranormal threat grows stronger.
  • Create characters using keywords to express their past, then adopt an attitude. Attitudes embody a character's approach and uniquely modify the game mechanics. Characters organically develop from the risks you take during play.
